He was a young bachur who was about to enter Yeshiva Gedola.
He knew that first impression make big impacts. Although that was where the problem lay
He did not have much to improve his condition and so he came as he was, and remains the same to this day.
Many guys like him also arrived, their suitcases full of dreams, aspirations and hopes. His suitcase too, was full of all these, but it soon shrunk and shrunk, and the great hope and the golden dream remained almost unrecognizable. It was hopeless.
No one could remember exactly how this happened, but the guys stayed away from him, that is – never tried to approach him. They were not bad, they were just ordinary people looking for the right circle for them, however he would not look righ in any circle.
Only the Gabai’s sharp eye managed to define what was so strange about him. His clothing did not suit his size at all. It was evident that many years had passed since buying a new garment.
Gently and sensitively, he called him in to speak and he began to cry. It turned out that the last time he bought new clothes was in honor of … his bar mitzvah! And since then he had not received anything new! No pants, no shirt, no suit, not even socks! A young man in a child’s clothes..
“And you have pocket money?” The gabbai asked. He lowered his eyes and answered that his pocket money was the change he got when he bought a bus pass. In other words six shekels.
Soon a new wardrobe was organized for him from head to toe. It was a restoration of lost human dignity. Suddenly he looked differently, and spoke differently. Suddenly he had confidence. His unique personality broke out. after being hidden in shame and disgrace for years.
Without the Tat’s assistance, he would have been left out of the Yeshivah camp, an outcast
Again he was late for prayer. Again he was absent from the Yeshiva classes. Again he was observed alarmingly wandering the streets of home and park. They say something is happening to him and it is unclear what. Only he knows that terrible things happen. Not around him, but inside.
He knows he needs help. This has long been understood. But where will he turn? To whom? What would he say? Should he even identify his the name?
He’s a good guy with a head on his shoulders. The future is still ahead of him and he understands that he must seek counseling urgently. After many glances, he picks up his phone and dials the number he saw in the paper. He explains his feelings briefly and the consultant definitely thinks he should meet a professional.
“Can you estimate the amount?” He asks a very important question.
The counselor cannot say anything accurately. He thinks he needs about… and so a number of meetings and it turns out the amount will be … and then the consultant puts in a lump sum.
“It doesn’t suit me now.” He answers in a broken voice and cuts off the conversation.
What does a guy feel at such a moment? He is interested and is so eager to help himself, but the door is locked.
Then the phone rings and the consultant is on the line. “I forgot to ask you, from which Yeshiva are you?”
“Kol Torah” he replies.
“Oh, let me check ….. I think I can help you, come. Just come. You don’t have to pay anything. It will be good.”
He came, and it was really good. To this day he does not know what is in Kol Torah that has given him so much help, and more, for free…
During the year, the Tat finances a variety of life saving cases – which simply require professional counseling. The sensitive process is done with the consent of the person – in coordination with the rabbis of the yeshiva and accompanied by the best professionals with maximum discretion, while the person is not involved at all financially.
Doors open, an opportunity for a better and more peaceful new life is at hand. After the Tat’s help, all you need to do is enter.
